For centuries, the churidar was the undisputed silhouette of royalty. Worn across Mughal courts, Rajput kingdoms, and Awadhi palaces, its beauty lay in the contrast between a sweeping royal kurta and the dense, rhythmic gathers ("churs") that cascaded down the lower calf like bangles.
Over time, fast fashion diluted this intricate craft into generic stretch leggings and ill-fitting bottoms. Riwayat was born as an uncompromising revival: returning to true 45-degree bias cuts, generational pit-loom silks, and handcrafted potli ankle buttons.

Our churidars are cut with a generous 52 to 56-inch length to ensure a minimum of 50 to 60 dense, sculptural fabric gathers above the ankle.
